About

About who I am…

My name is Henry Moore (2002). I’m mostly located on the East Coast of North Carolina. I’ve been in that area for most of my life. I attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington; as of writing this, I plan to graduate in Spring 2025 in the major of Digital Arts. While not in school, I work over on Topsail Island at a retail shop called Herring’s Outdoor Sports. As of writing (Sept. 24, 2024), I currently do not have a set plan for what to do after school. The idea for now is to look into taking some photos for some real estate agents that I know.

Video Editing Background

I didn’t have much exposure to any kind of digital arts growing up. I would watch cartoons and play video games but when it came to the actual creation of it, I didn’t have many people to look to. My passion really started during one summer where me and friend were watching some YouTube videos at his place, they were mostly gaming videos and skits like MEM and VanossGaming. While I didn’t know much about how to make a good video, I wanted to do just that. I would take my iPad and would make video about anything.
Probably my first video I made was when I was with my dad and another good friend of his and went fishing. I took videos of us while we were out and later put them in a iMovie trailer template. While we didn’t catch any fish, I was happy to make something, even if all I did was drag and drop into a template. I continued making videos as I grew up and they were probably about what you imagine a kid with a iPad could come up with. Most of them were not that good. Even though I didn’t think I was that good, I was probably better than most of the people I was around.
Later on in high school, I just took a random stream that my friend did one night and did some editing with it. This was probably the video that I made that actually had some substance. All the other videos I made before then were bland and boring, not even I would want to watch them; but for the first time in a long time, I made something that I was genuine happy to look at.
For a while, I was still using an iPad since that’s all I really had available to me. Getting into college and getting myself a laptop was another step forward. Having access to Adobe thanks to the University and hardware that was capable of making a good video, I had access to make the videos I always wanted. While I wasn’t able to start right away, I started working with Photoshop, Premiere, A.E., Lightroom Classic, etc. I started learning about using them before taking the classes that taught you how to use them. Any time I’m working, I’m always looking towards finding a way to improve or learning a new trick that I might not have known about. Some of my stuff is available to view in the Portfolio/Gallery tab.

Photography

Out of all the skills I’ve acquired over time, photography is the most recent one so it’s still relatively fresh to me. I started in 2023 for a class and continue to take photos whenever I have some free time available or I know that the day is going to be a bright sunny day. My equipment is relatively limited but covers some essentials: reflector board, tripod, two choices in lens (one for short distance and one for long distance), and some lights that are relatively strong.
It’s been a relatively good skill to have, especially during the time of my sister’s senior year of high school. Not just for her alone but also for other family events.
Some of my best shots are from around home for me. Taking time from life to capture what I love about my home. Great sunsets and rises, comfy beach atmosphere, and just enjoying time spent with friends. No stranger to shooting at night: outside Cook Out watching cars go by with the small arcade in the background and making light shapes in the dark.

3D Modeling and Animation

Before taking college courses for 3D modeling, I did have some experience with it in camps during my late middle school days and early high school. They were short but fun. Fast forward to now, I’m getting back into 3D modeling and even learning about animation.
Animation is still relatively new to me, at least in 3D creation. I have a good idea on how animation works and how it should look. While they are not perfect, I’ve done simple 2D animations as well and have experience working with keyframes with software like Premiere Pro and After Effects.
